CariFLAGS has announced the results of its latest Board of Directors election, marking an important step in the organisation’s transition to a fully constituted governing body. Twenty-one of the network’s thirty-four affiliate organisations participated in the vote, electing Rae Alibey, Millie Milton, Earl Edmund, and Tracy Sheppard to join Kenneth Van Emden on the incoming Board.

The move from a long-standing Steering Committee to a formal Board represents a shift toward stronger governance, clearer accountability, and a more strategic leadership model for the network as it continues to grow. Affiliates noted that the voting process reflected the organisation’s commitment to transparency and participatory decision-making.

Outgoing Chairperson Lucien Govaard highlighted the significance of the moment, noting that the energy and engagement throughout the election point to a renewed level of investment in the future of LGBTQI+ advocacy across the region.

CariFLAGS acknowledged the work of its independent Oversight Committee and the affiliate organisations whose participation made the election possible. The new Board will guide the next phase of the network’s regional coordination, capacity-building, and advocacy efforts.
